About the Journal

Aim and Scope

The Journal of Microbial Science and Public Health (Formerly SJ Microbiology Africa) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research at the interface of microbiology and population health. The journal publishes high-quality original research, reviews, and short communications that contribute to the understanding, prevention, and control of infectious diseases affecting human health.

The scope includes clinical and laboratory microbiology, bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, antimicrobial resistance, environmental and food microbiology, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, infection prevention and control, and One Health-related microbial research with public health relevance.

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies that translate microbial science into evidence for public health practice, policy, and improved health outcomes globally.

The Journal was established on Sunday, 31 December 2023, and it is published by SJC Publishers Company Limited.
